Why this picture
I have often thought about what we photograph and think is beautiful. It is all a value judgement but I concluded that in the end all of the things we see in the world could be just as interesting if we had the proper knowledge and context. This is a boring busy picture of a snowy day in the woods, but if you love snow you might like it, if you like serenity you might like it, if you like pictures with no evidence of man you may like it. If you hate cold you won't like it, if you are scared in the woods you will not like it, if you like sun and warm melted water you won't enjoy this. This may not be fine art but I personally enjoyed the moment and I think enjoyment in the moment is an important element in photography. Gary
